Weekly Roundup

Monday 27th November 2017

Week eleven at PropertySafe!! Started the week off with more work on the desktop UI today. It’s been great to be able to take a break from the mobile design and work on the different parts of the application such as the desktop UI and the Admin UI. If I get stuck on something I am working on, I just need that short break to be able to then come back fresh and 9/10 times I will find a solution to what I was previously stuck on.

Worked through a bunch of the desktop UI designs today plus a few updates to the job pages.

If you have been following my last few posts, you will know that I am spending a lot of time learning about blockchain technology and cryptocurrency. Total noob, but everyone has to start somewhere and its a really interesting space for me. A few friends have been trading since the start of the year and we have briefly spoke about it, but seeing as I’ve been busy with everything else going on lately, I never really took the time to dig deeper and learn more about it.

I’ve now been learning quite a lot about it over the past month or so. For the sake of simplicity, I signed up to Coinbase that allows you to currently buy Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin using $AUD. It’s super easy to sign up and get verified. I added a couple hundred dollars to my wallet to play with. No better way to learn than to actually use the application to see how it all works. Over the next few months I will be sharing my experiences in this space.

By clicking the link below and signing up, if you buy $100USD of digital currency or more, we both get $10 of free bitcoin. Happy days! Sign up to Coinbase and get $10 of free Bitcoin

Wednesday 29th November 2017

Progressing through the desktop UI, trying to work out the best solution for the whole dashboard section including the jobs page. As I mentioned last week, the desktop UI design is proving to be a real challenge, working backwards from mobile to desktop with the existing framework. I will progress and surely find a good solution!

I recently purchased a massive bundle of design assets from Design Cuts. I will be using these heavily in 2018 to create more designs for Aussie Mineral Hub and Typeyeah. These new designs will go up on my Redbubble page and the other Print on Demand (POD) platforms I am on.

Thursday 30th November 2017

Working through my ‘stuck’ situation at the moment with the desktop design. Regular huddles with the team on ideas for certain areas are helping me in finding the right solution. Trying to create the best possible experience while trying to keep within the current development framework is really hard. I cant wait to be able to show everyone what I have actually been working on. This will most likely be in January/February 2018 now.

I mentioned yesterday about the new design assets I purchased to create new designs. I did a search to see what other Print on Demand (POD) services are out there that are worthwhile to sign up to. I had heard of a site called Zazzle a couple of years ago, but never really looked it to it much. It looks like it has come a long way so I decided to sign up to today.

I’ll take some time to check it out and upload a few of my designs to see how it all works. It seems pretty straight forward to get started although they do have a slightly different model to how RedBubble works. With Zazzle you upload your artwork and then you create new products individually which is different to RedBubbles process of uploading your artwork and it adding it to all available products.

Thursday Shoulder Workout

  • Warm up followed by 4 x 12 reps 25kg Wide Grip Shoulder Press
  • 4 x 12 reps 25kg Close Grip Shoulder Press
  • 4 x 12 reps 20kg Single Arm Iso-Lateral Shoulder Press
  • 4 x 10 reps 8kg Dumbbell Side Raises
  • 4 x 12 reps 54kg Rear Delt
  • 5 mins Air Bike
  • 10 mins Sit Down Bike

Friday 1st December 2017

More work on the desktop UI today, a lot of sketching and working out possible solutions for certain pages. Sorry guys, you’ll have to wait till the project goes live before I can share any designs and workflows with you.

Central Coast Barber website is starting to get some traction. I did some minor tweaks last night to improve SEO, just some basic on page SEO like ensuring all the meta titles and descriptions are up to scratch. I have connected it to Google Search Console, added the sitemap and resubmitted it based on the new pages recently added to ensure they all get indexed.

I’m thinking of adding some male grooming products that I actively use. Let me know in the comments if you have a recommendation based on the products you use.

  • 4 x 12 reps 85kg Tricep Press
  • 5 mins Air Bike
